Doel Reed Center Advisory Committee Meets in Taos
The question is often asked, “How is the OSU Doel Reed Center in Taos managed?”
Because the center serves as an educational extension of the university, it currently resides under the jurisdiction and leadership of the OSU Provost Office. Carol Moder, PhD., serves as the center's director in addition to her responsibilities as Professor and Program Director of the TESOL/Linguistics Program in the Department of English. Dr. Moder began her tenure in 2014 as the third director of the Doel Reed Center.
Carol is supported by an advisory committee composed primarily of OSU alumni, all having a deep love for the Taos area and an affinity for the educational mission of the center. There are approximately thirty members that serve on the committee.
The DRC Advisory Committee meets three times annually, once in Stillwater, once virtually, and once in Taos. Operating committees meet throughout the year via Zoom to help formulate programming for the center.
The OSU Doel Reed Center in Taos is funded primarily by gifts and endowments from
many very generous donors. The OSU Foundation supports the Doel Reed Centers fundraising efforts. Donations are coveted to help support the property and its educational programming efforts.
The Advisory Committee recently gathered in Taos on Thursday, August 25th, and conducted a workday on the property, followed by a visit to the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House to view the current exhibit, Doel Reed: Sun Patterns, Dark Canyons.
The committee convened Friday at the Sagebrush Inn for its annual Taos business meeting where it welcomed four new members.

Friday evening was spent at the home of Ted Schupbach, a proud OSU alum and local Taos veterinarian, for a social gathering complete with a local band.
Many members attended the annual gala and art auction at the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House Saturday evening. Two Doel Reed Center Advisory Committee members, Annie Brown and Burns Hargis, serve on the Board of Directors at the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House.
