OSU Students in Taos
OSU students spent two weeks at the Doel Reed Center in Taos for the summer 2021 academic credit courses.
Two academic credit classes were recently taught at the Doel Reed Center in Taos. Eight
OSU students studied Motion Design Studio: New Mexico as an Inspiration for Motion Design and seven enrolled in Narratives of Identity: Language, Community and Place. The students were in Taos for two weeks of intense study that included visits to local
venues to support their course curriculum. Here are a few of the quotes from several
of the students regarding their experience:
“The scholarship I received to take ENGL 6270: Narratives of Identity in Taos has not only allowed me to widen my perspective of Southwestern cultures and peoples through narrative inquiry; these funds have also enabled me to apply these insights to my dissertation.”
“Attending class at the Doel Reed Center in Taos was one of the most enriching experiences so far in my life. To be able to take a course on narrative, language and identity while exploring the region and culture of Taos has deepened my understanding of both the subject and of myself.”
Most students are only able to enroll in these unique learning experiences through the generous scholarship donations from OSU alumni and friends of the center. If you would like to sponsor a student to help them have a “study abroad” type experience, click here.
