Sophie Isaak, 2023 Smelser Vallion Visiting Artist

Smelser Vallion Visiting Artist at The OSU Doel Reed Center in Taos, Sophie Isaak, spoke July 11th at the Taos Art Museum. 

 

Ms. Isaaks’ presentation, Dreaming in Color, highlighted her passion for intense colors and awkward and surprising forms and idiosyncratic compositions.

 

Izaak utilizes printmaking, drawing and painting techniques to create complex compositions. Her work has been displayed nationally in several solo and juried exhibitions.

 

The annual Smelser Vallion Visiting Artist program brings visiting artists to Taos to interact with students taking credit classes at the DRC, as well as to pursue their own creative projects while in residence at the center.  The visiting artist also presents an artist’s talk and facilitates printmaking workshops at the OSU campus in Stillwater in the fall 2023 semester.
