Saint

How did early residents in Northern New Mexico express their faith through the celebration of old and new saints? What role did visual images play in the celebration and dissemination of these santos? Get an insider’s view of the upcoming 2023-2024 exhibition, “Saints and Santos: Picturing the Holy in New Spain” at the New Mexico Museum of Art. Art historian and chief curator Cristina González will lead you on an in-depth exploration of how regions and localities selected particular saints to venerate and actively shape how the holy was seen and performed.
