Announcing Burke Visiting Scholar


Jill MomadayEach year the OSU Doel Reed Center in Taos hosts a Visiting Scholar lecture series sponsored by the generous support of James and Linda Burke. This year the selection committee chose Jill Momaday as its Visiting Scholar. Ms. Momaday is a filmmaker, author, speaker, actor and Native American (Kiowa) residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

 

Ms. Momaday will interact with the “Writing the Native City from New Mexico” academic credit course in May. She will also be presenting a lecture in Taos that will be open to the general public. In addition, she will be visiting the OSU campus in Stillwater to lecture at a date yet to be determined in 2022 or 2023.

 

Jill Momaday is passionate about her Native American heritage and the Kiowa oral tradition, and her experiences have instilled in her a desire to inspire other people, especially women, to follow their dreams and be empowered by their own stories. As a speaker, she uses her tenacity and problem solving filmmaker skills to motivate listeners to take action in their own endeavors.
