Artists and Scholars
Each year, The Doel Reed Center in Taos OSU invites a Smelser-Vallion Visiting Artist
and a Jim & Linda Burke Visiting Scholar to produce original works, lead workshops
or give talks in Taos & Stillwater, and collaborate with creative minds of all ages.
The Jim and Linda Burke Visiting Scholar or Writer
The Jim and Linda Burke Visiting Scholar/Writer in modern or contemporary literature
and/or the arts of New Mexico or the Southwest will interact with students enrolled
in a joint Oklahoma State University/University of New Mexico summer graduate seminar
in Taos.
The Smelser Vallion Visiting Artist
The Smelser Vallion Artist will be expected to undertake a project, in any medium,
that is in some way influenced by and/or reflects the landscape and/or culture of
the Southwest. The recipient will interact with students enrolled in Oklahoma State
University's Taos class.
