January 22, 2026 4 PM CT

In this talk, we explore the life, artistry, and influence of Martha Reed through her garments, design philosophy, and enduring impact on Southwest fashion and women’s creative enterprise.

Dr. Lynn Boorady is Professor and Department Head of Design and Merchandising at Oklahoma State University, a position she has held since 2019. Her research focuses on functional clothing design, with particular emphasis on sizing and fit for specialized populations such as firefighters and agricultural workers. Dr. Boorady’s work bridges design, safety, and human factors to create apparel that enhances both performance and protection.

Her interest in Martha Reed emerged through her service on the Doel Reed Committee, where she became fascinated by Reed’s artistic vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and enduring influence on Southwestern fashion. Dr. Boorady is delighted to share Reed’s story and celebrate her contributions to art, design, and independent creativity.

Diane Limbaugh is a Professor of Professional Practice in the Department of Design and Merchandising at Oklahoma State University, where she has taught in various capacities since 1996. With extensive industry experience in technical design, she brings a strong professional perspective to her teaching and curriculum development. Responding to evolving industry needs, she created a certificate program in digital product creation to ensure students gain cutting-edge skills demanded by today’s fashion and apparel sectors.

Known for her industry partnerships and student-centered approach, Diane has long been a mentor and advocate for experiential learning. For the past 15 years, she has served as producer of the department’s annual, student-run fashion show, Euphoria, guiding students through every stage of professional show production and design presentation.
